Bob Morgan (’05) Elected Illinois State Representative

Bob Morgan (’05) was recently elected as the Illinois State Representative for the 58th District. The District, along Chicagoland’s North Shore, includes all or parts of the Bannockburn, Deerfield, Glencoe, Highwood, Highland Park, Lake Bluff Lake Forest, Lincolnshire, Northbrook and North Chicago.

An attorney at the law firm of Much Shelist, Bob regularly navigates state government on behalf of local businesses and individuals.  He has managed both the passage of legislation, and the complexities of making government more efficient – skills he will bring to Springfield while fighting for our community.

Bob served as the lead healthcare attorney for the State of Illinois where he was instrumental in securing health care for over 650,000 Illinois residents and ensured they were covered under ACA’s Medicaid expansion. He was lauded for his efforts to implement the Affordable Care Act and the Illinois Medical Cannabis Program. The state’s medical cannabis program has already helped over 35,000 residents struggling with debilitating medical conditions like cancer and PTSD, and Bob continues to advocate for patients still waiting for access to the program.

Active in the local community, Bob is a tireless advocate for those without a voice.  He is an active Board Member of the Anti-Defamation League and serves on the Board of Trustees of Equip for Equality. He serves as the Chair of the West Deerfield Township Democrats, was a past Jewish Outreach Director for Hillary Clinton and is involved at both Temple Beth El in Northbrook and Congregation BJBE in Deerfield.

Bob will be sworn in on January 9, 2019 in Springfield, IL.
