Matt Pfeiffer (’00) Receives Prestigious ISBA Board of Governors Award

Matt Pfeiffer (’00)

Congratulations to Matt Pfeiffer (’00), recipient of the 2019-20 Illinois State Bar Association’s (ISBA) Board of Governors Award.  Each year, the ISBA recognizes members for their exemplary service to the profession and the Association by presenting them with this prestigious award.

According to the committee, Matt expertly served as the vice-chair of the ISBA Special Committee on Succession and Transition Planning, which created a library of resources to assist members in succession planning.  These invaluable resources are available to all ISBA members and include video, articles, CLE seminars, and many sample legal documents. Matt was also instrumental in several meetings the ISBA leadership held with the ARDC to resolve differences regarding the commission’s recent matching-services study and proposal.

Matt has served on ISBA’s Civil Practice and Procedure Section Council for the past several years; was the moderator of a panel addressing electronic evidence issues at the prestigious invitation-only Allerton Conference (2011); has been a member of the Business and Securities Law Section Council for multiple years; and continues to serve as a member of the ISBA Assembly, the supreme policy-making body of this organization, on behalf of the Eighteenth Judicial Circuit.

Throughout the years, Matt has also been active and has maintained several positions of leadership within the DuPage County Bar Association (DCBA).  In 2018, he served as president of the DCBA, the largest county bar association in Illinois with over 2,800 members. He is a past chair of its Professional Responsibility Committee, Business Law Committee, and Law Practice Management Committee. As a prior member of its Planning Committee, Matt worked alongside some of the most prominent attorneys and judges in DuPage County toward the development of a strategic long-term business plan for the DCBA.  Matt was also elected as a member of DCBA’s Board of Directors. He is a past recipient of the Board of Directors Award from the DuPage County Bar Association for outstanding service to this organization.

Dedicated to his alma mater, Matt served as chair of the NIU College of Law Board of Visitors from 2018-2020. He had also served as a long-time member and former president of the NIU College Law Alumni Council. He serves as a mentor to students and is actively engaged in College of Law programming and events.

Matt founded Pfeiffer Law Offices, P.C. located in Wheaton, IL in 2012. Throughout his career, he has handled a broad range of civil litigation matters for individuals as well as small- to medium-sized business entities in numerous state and federal courts and in arbitration and mediation proceedings.
