Associate Dean King Presents on Current Issues in Entertainment and IP Law

Prof. Yolanda KingAssociate Dean Yolanda King was among a group of expert faculty who presented as part of a CLE program on Advanced Copyright Law 2021: Current Issues for the Practising Law Institute in New York on March 11.  Her presentation entitled, Right of Publicity and Entertainment Law for the Copyright Lawyer, highlighted recent developments in right of publicity law in various jurisdictions and the interplay between right of publicity and copyright laws.

In addition, Associate Dean King served as a panelist at the Los Angeles Intellectual Property Association’s Judges Night Gala on February 25.  The discussion honored members of the judiciary who handle intellectual property matters and featured an interactive discussion of current topics with the panel of judges and Associate Dean King.

Associate Dean King teaches property, intellectual property law related courses and entertainment law. Before joining the NIU faculty, Dean King practiced intellectual property law at Husch Blackwell Sanders Welsh & Katz and Brinks Hofer Gilson & Lione in Chicago, Illinois, where she engaged in domestic and international copyright and trademark prosecution, handled licensing issues and represented clients in domain name matters. In addition, she was an attorney in the City of Chicago Department of Law. Dean King is currently of counsel at Advitam IP, an intellectual property law firm in Chicago. She is a member of the Intellectual Property Law Association of Chicago, International Trademark Association, and Society for American Law Teachers.
