Louis G. Apostol (’78) Reappointed Public Administrator and Elected to CBA Board

Hon. Louis G. Apostol (’78) was reappointed Public Administrator of Cook County by Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker in 2022. Prior to this appointment, he served as the Executive Director, general counsel and legislative liaison for the Illinois Property Tax Appeal Board (2008-2017). As Executive Director, he was responsible for the management and adjudication of all residential, commercial, industrial and farm property tax appeals in Illinois. He has been a practicing lawyer in Illinois for over 40 years and was a partner in several large law firms in Chicago specializing in civil and criminal litigation, tax, finance, property, administrative and government law. He is a certified executive (CAE), having served as general counsel and chief operating officer to multiple corporations and associations. He currently practices law in Chicago, Northfield and Glenview.

Hon. Louis Apostol was also recently elected to the Chicago Bar Association Board of Managers. Founded in 1874, The Chicago Bar Association is one of the oldest and most active metropolitan bar associations in the United States. The Association’s voluntary membership of 17,000 consists largely of lawyers and judges from Cook County and the State of Illinois. The purposes and objectives of the Association are to establish and maintain the honor and dignity of the profession of the law, to cultivate social relationships among its members, and to increase the usefulness of the legal profession in promoting the due administration of justice and the public good.

He has received numerous accolades for his public service and distinguished service to the legal profession.  Hon. Louis Apostol is a member of numerous boards including the NIU College of Law Board of Visitors, where he served as chair.  In addition, he has been a speaker at bar associations and public interest groups nationwide.
