Professor Boraca Moderates Panel on Mental Illness and the Criminal Justice System

On June 7, 2017, the Kane County Bar Association Elder Care, Disability and Mental Health Committee presented a seminar on “Mental Illness and its Path through the Criminal Justice System: Challenges and Solutions.” Clinical Assistant Professor Colleen Boraca, a co-chair of the committee, served as one of the moderators. The seminar examined the impact of incarcerating the mentally ill and examined alternatives and solutions. Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart was the guest speaker. Other panelists included Alexandra Tsang, Psy.D. of the Kane County Diagnostic Center, Kane County Sheriff Donald Kramer, the Honorable T. Clint Hull of the 16th Circuit, Joanne Furnas of the Association for Individual Development and Kane County Public Defender Kelli Childress.
