Professor Therese Clarke Arado was elected NIU’s Faculty Senate President and Executive Secretary of University Council. The Faculty Senate serves as the official voice of the NIU faculty and as the authoritative representative liaison body between the faculty and the University Council, the president of the university, the executive vice president and provost, other vice presidents with respect to their responsibilities affecting the faculty, and the Board of Trustees. She also has the opportunity to work with the other heads of shared governance on campus. Professor Clarke will work out of Altgeld Hall much of the year, but will still be teaching an online advanced legal research course and be involved with the law library and law school. She began her one-year term on July 1, 2018.
