Manning & Kass Partner and Professional Sports Law Team Leader Jeffrey M. Lenkov (’91) led a discussion with Vince Tyra, Director of Athletics at University of Louisville, about the transformation of Louisville Athletics during the 2019 Collegiate Sports Summit. The Summit is the annual, invitation-only gathering of NCAA Division I Athletic Directors, held April 23 & 24, 2019 in Santa Monica, CA.

Jeffrey moderated a discussion with Mr. Tyra about his successful efforts to turn the University of Louisville athletics program around in the year since he took on the position of athletic director. Mr. Tyra inherited a program in turmoil due to accusations made in documents filed by federal prosecutors, which led to the dismissal of the previous athletic director and men’s basketball coach.

Jeffrey is nationally recognized by many as the lawyer to hire when faced with high stakes litigation. He is an equity partner in the Los Angeles office of Manning & Kass, where he leads the firm’s Entertainment Law; Professional Sports Law; and Retail, Restaurant, and Hospitality Teams. He is a certified players’ agent with the National Hockey League Players’ Association (NHLPA) and represents athletes and sports announcers.

Jeffrey has spent more than two decades litigating on behalf of prominent domestic and international companies including major airlines, as well as business owners, professional sports franchises, world class athletes, celebrities, and international sports agencies. He is proud to be part of this year’s Collegiate Sports Summit, a highly respected forum for NCAA Division I Athletic Directors to share what they have learned, where they are moving the needle, and what the future holds.
