Patrick Edgerton (’96) Named 2020 Litigator of the Year

Patrick Edgerton (’96) was named a 2020 Litigator of the Year for Civil Litigation by the American Institute for Trial Lawyers.  An attorney who is selected for this award possess the knowledge, skill, experience and success of a seasoned litigator.  Very few attorneys from each region will receive this recognition.

Patrick is a partner with Edgerton and Edgerton in West Chicago, IL.  His areas of practice include Commercial Litigation, Collections, Mechanics Liens, Forcible Entry and Detainer, Construction Law, Contracts, Landlord/Tenant, Real Estate, and Family Law. In addition to his extensive trial expertise, he serves as an Arbitrator for DuPage, Kane, and McHenry Counties and at one point was the youngest chair qualified Arbitrator in his youth. Likewise, he has lectured extensively in the commercial collections and commercial litigation fields, including but not limited to Small Claims Court, Arbitration Court, Post Judgment Collections, Home Repair and Remodeling Act, Moorman Doctrine, Certificate of Release Act, and the Mechanics Lien Act. Patrick is a Member of the Illinois State Bar Association, Kane County Bar Association, and DuPage County Bar Association. With the DCBA, Patrick has served as a Member of its Board of Directors, Chaired the Membership Committee (which at the time was combined with the New Lawyer’s Committee), co-authored an article for its journal, and has been a long-time participator of Judge’s Night.
