Professors Falkoff and Jones Discuss January 6 Events on Experts Panel

NIU Law Professors Marc Falkoff and Robert Jones were featured on the panel – Ask an Expert: The January 6 Insurrection, Constitutional Processes, and the Peaceful Transition of Power. The program, which took place on January 14, was moderated by NIU Executive Vice President and Provost Beth Ingram.

The discussion centered around the events of January 6, which shook the nation. The panel fielded questions from the moderator and audience on a variety of issues including what happened that day, whether the Cabinet should invoke the 25th Amendment, what is sedition, the role the National Guard plays in protecting the safety of Congress, and when a protest is really a riot.

Professor Marc Falkoff joined the NIU Law faculty in 2006. His primary research and teaching interests are in the rule of law and the practice of public interest law. He teaches courses primarily in constitutional law, criminal law, criminal procedure, post-conviction remedies and the federal courts.

Associate Professor Robert Jones joined the NIU Law faculty in 2007.  He teaches civil procedure, evidence, constitutional law, conflict of laws, antitrust law, and the summer bar preparation course.
