David Vella (’97) Elected to the Illinois House of Representatives

David Vella (’97) was sworn in on January 13, 2021 after being elected to the Illinois House of Representative for the 68th District. This District covers parts of Cherry Valley, Loves Park, Machesney Park, Rockford, and Roscoe.

Representative Vella has been an associate at Vella & Lund, P.C. since 2000. He has successfully represented individuals in all counties in Northern Illinois from all walks of life. Prior to joining the firm, Representative Vella started his career as a Winnebago County Public Defender representing individuals who weren’t able to afford an attorney. He has carried that spirit forward at his law firm, which offers pro bono representation to low-income clients.

Representative Vella is active in the community and serves on several volunteer Boards. His work in the community has focused on helping the most vulnerable and children. He is a former board member at the Rockford Literacy Council, which helps people who didn’t finish high school get jobs. While on the board, he focused his work on developing programs for adults.

As a huge supporter of education, he was the former Board President at Keith Country Day School. While on the board, he helped hire several new teachers and modernized the school’s curriculum to ensure our students received the best possible education.
