Hon. Christina M. Cantlin-VanWiggeren (’01) was appointed as an At-Large Circuit Court Judge in the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit effective on March 22, 2021. Prior to her appointment, Judge Cantlin-VanWiggeren had 20 years of experience in private practice, having worked at The Cantlin Law Firm since 2001. She was responsible for advising financial and government institutions including local cities, villages, townships, fire and drainage districts. Additional areas of her practice included estate planning, real estate, corporations, and traffic defense.
Judge Cantlin-VanWiggeren is on the Ottawa Regional Hospital Board of Directors and was a past chairman of that same Board. She presently serves on the Public Policy Committee of the Ottawa Area Chamber of Commerce. She is a former board member and Treasurer for the Ottawa Area Chamber of Commerce and former board member of Easter Seals of LaSalle & Bureau Counties. She is also a member of Phi Alpha Beta Law Fraternity and the Epsilon Delta Professional Educational Organization.
Judge Cantlin-VanWiggeren earned her Bachelor of Science degree, summa cum laude, from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and her Juris Doctorate, magna cum laude, from the Northern Illinois University College of Law. Her affiliations include the Illinois State Bar Association, the Illinois Local Government Lawyers Association, Illinois Trial Lawyers Association, the International Municipal Lawyers Association, and the LaSalle County Bar Association.
