Matt Pfeiffer (’00) Elected to ISBA Board of Governors

Matt Pfeiffer (’00) was elected to the Illinois State Bar Association’s Board of Governors. The 27-member Board oversees the operations and management of ISBA, subject to policies set by the 203-member Assembly. He will represent Area I, which consists solely of the 18th Judicial Circuit (DuPage County).

Matt has been an active member of the ISBA during the course of his legal career. He has served on ISBA’s Civil Practice and Procedure Section Council for the past several years; was the moderator of a panel addressing electronic evidence issues at the prestigious invitation-only Allerton Conference (2011); has been a member of the Business and Securities Law Section Council for multiple years; and continues to serve as a member of the ISBA Assembly, the supreme policy-making body of this organization, on behalf of the Eighteenth Judicial Circuit. In September 2020, Matt was appointed to the ISBA’s newly created Steering Committee on Racial Inequality. This special committee is tasked to provide guidance, coordination, prioritization, and accountability of the ISBA structure to advance racial equality. He also received the prestigious 2019-20 ISBA’s Board of Governors Award, bestowed on select members for their exemplary service to the profession and the Association.

Throughout the years, Matt has also been active and has maintained several positions of leadership within the DuPage County Bar Association (DCBA). In 2018, he served as president of the DCBA, the largest county bar association in Illinois with over 2,800 members. He is a past chair of its Professional Responsibility Committee, Business Law Committee, and Law Practice Management Committee. As a prior member of its Planning Committee, Matt worked alongside some of the most prominent attorneys and judges in DuPage County toward the development of a strategic long-term business plan for the DCBA. Matt was also elected as a member of DCBA’s Board of Directors. He is a past recipient of the Board of Directors Award from the DuPage County Bar Association for outstanding service to this organization.

As the founder of Pfeiffer Law Offices, P.C. located in Wheaton since 2012, he has handled a broad range of civil litigation matters for individuals as well as small- to medium-sized business entities in numerous state and federal courts and in arbitration and mediation proceedings.

Dedicated to his alma mater, Matt is the immediate past chair of the NIU College of Law Board of Visitors. He also served as a long-time member and former president of the NIU College Law Alumni Council. He is as a mentor to students and is actively engaged in College of Law programming and events.
