Professor Gregory Elinson is a public law scholar with wide-ranging interests in constitutional and administrative law and legislative and judicial procedure. Much of his research concerns how partisan politics and political polarization have shaped the separation of powers. Before coming to NIU, Professor Elinson was a Climenko Fellow at Harvard Law School and an associate in Kirkland & Ellis’s Chicago office, where his practice focused on commercial and appellate litigation. Prior to joining the faculty at NIU College of Law, Professor Telia Williams worked in the litigation departments of law firms including Cravath, Swaine, & Moore in New York City and WilmerHale in Washington, D.C as well as her own firm in Las Vegas, Nevada. In New York and D.C., she extensively practiced in the area of securities litigation, antitrust, intellectual property, and real estate litigation. Peter Ormerod

Professor Peter Ormerod research focuses on information privacy law, law & technology, and consumer protection law. Before joining NIU, Professor Ormerod was an Assistant Professor of Business Law at Western Carolina University. He has published journal articles on the duty of data security, technology’s effects on the Fourth Amendment, and regulatory structures that enable the effective enforcement of privacy law. Lorianne Updike Toler

Professor Lorianne Updike Toler specializes in constitutional law, comparative constitutional law, and legal history. Before joining the faculty at NIU College of Law, Professor Toler was a Teaching Fellow at New England Law School in 2021-2022, the Olin Searle Fellow at Yale Law School ‘s Information Society Project 2020-2021, as well as a Visiting Fellow at Yale Law from 2018-2020. Lawrence A. Stein

Professor Stein is the inaugural Director of the Business Innovation Law Clinic, the law school’s only transactional law clinic, located in Swen Parson Hall. He joined Northern Illinois University College of Law in May 2022 and developed the clinic, which opened in August 2022.
