NIU Law will host its 31st Annual Francis X. Riley Lecture on Professionalism on Thursday, April 3 from 4:30-5:30 pm at the NIU Holmes Student Center – Regency Room.
This year’s lecture “Balancing Legal Culture with Professionalism and Respect” will be given by Chief Judge Timothy C. Evans of the Circuit Court of Cook County. Chief Judge Evans leads the largest of the 24 judicial circuits in Illinois and also one of the largest unified court systems in the world. He has served in this role for 24 years and is a long-time advocate for equality and compassion within the legal field.

Following the lecture, the NIU Public Interest Law Society (PILS) will host its annual auction, a student-run event that raises money for outreach assistantships awarded to innovation, enthusiastic and dedicated students at NIU College of Law who work in unpaid public interest legal positions. BID BIG and enjoy free food and drinks.
The Francis X. Riley Lecture Series was established in 1994 to honor the late Professor Emeritus Riley, who devoted his life to the law and legal education. It brings distinguished speakers to the NIU College of Law to discuss current issues relating to the legal profession.

Attendees should park in the Visitor’s Parking Lot located 121 Carroll Avenue DeKalb, IL 60115. Parking in the Visitor’s Parking Lot for guests attending this event will be FREE beginning at 4 pm on April 3. Visit campus parking for maps and additional information. Please be aware of any restricted spaces. Tickets received are at the owner’s expense.
The Visitor’s Parking Lot can only be accessed from Lincoln Highway. Once parked, head towards the Student Center (tall tan building north of the parking lot) and enter in the South Entrance. Head up the flight of stairs, go left and follow instructions from there to the Regency Room.
From I-88, exit at Annie Glidden Road and continue to Lincoln Hwy (Rt 38) and make a right (east) to Carroll Ave (first light) and make a left. The DeKalb Police Department and Pizza Hut are at the corner of Lincoln Hwy and Carroll Ave. The Visitor’s Lot will be down on the left.
From the east, take Lincoln Hwy (Rt 38) west into DeKalb to Carroll Ave and make a right. The DeKalb Police Department and Pizza Hut are at the corner of Lincoln Hwy and Carroll Ave. The Visitor’s Lot will be down on the left.
