A huge congratulations to NIU Law alumnus Jeffrey Lenkov (’91) on his groundbreaking and historic victory in securing Pete Rose’s posthumous removal from Major League Baseball’s permanently ineligible list. As a result, Pete Rose is now eligible to be considered for MLB’s Hall of Fame.
For the first time in its history, MLB Office of the Commissioner has now issued a policy decision regarding the status of individuals who have passed away while on the permanently ineligible list. According to Lenkov’s firm, Commissioner Robert D. Manfred Jr. states “… I have concluded that permanent ineligibility ends upon the passing of the disciplined individual, and Mr. Rose will be removed from the permanently ineligible list.”
Jeffrey, a nationally recognized attorney, is a founding partner at Zelms Erlich Lenkov in California. He is the leader of the Entertainment Law, Professional Sports Law, and Retail, Restaurant, and Hospitality Litigation teams as well as the chair of other teams.
