Steve Boldt (’10) was recently named a partner at Adler Murphy & McQuillen LLP in Chicago, IL, concentrating his practice in the defense of general and commercial aviation matters in state and federal courts throughout the country. Drawing on his extensive experience in a wide array of complex matters and legal issues, Steve has successfully represented numerous pilots, mechanics, airlines, charter operators, maintenance facilities, aircraft owners, airports, fixed-based operators, as well as airframe, engine, and component part manufacturers in personal injury, wrongful death, and regulatory matters.
An accomplished litigator, Steve regularly defends the product liability portfolios of several major manufacturers and their insurers located around the world. He works closely with clients to understand the technical aspects of their products while keeping in mind the bigger picture surrounding their industries, providing practical solutions and zealous representation at all stages of litigation through trial and appeal.
Steve graduated in the top 5 of his class at the Northern Illinois University College of Law and was recognized in many ways for his numerous academic achievements, including being named as the Editor-in-Chief of the NIU Law Review, elected as an Associate Justice of the NIU Moot Court Society, and inducted into the NIU Moot Court Hall of Fame in 2010. On top of his demanding scholastic schedule, Steve also clerked for a judge in the Circuit Court of Cook County, interned at the Office of the State Appellate Defender, clerked in the Felony Trial Division of the Cook County State’s Attorney, and clerked at a well-respected plaintiffs’ personal injury firm in the Chicago suburbs. His unique experience on both sides of the table, including behind the scenes on the bench, helped Steve develop the unique, well-rounded litigation approach he applies to his practice today.
Steve is a former Director of the Korean American Bar Association, Committee Chair for the Appellate Lawyers Association, and Chair of the Aviation Law Committee of the Chicago Bar Association. Currently, Steve serves as a member of the Judicial Evaluation Committee’s Investigative Division for the Chicago Bar Association. He is a frequent speaker at aviation law seminars and contributor to scholarly publications, including the Chicago Bar Association, the ABA Mass Torts Litigation Group, and the ABA Tort Trial & Insurance Practice Law Journal.
