Congratulations to first-year law students Steward Lyman and Robert Harden who were the 2021 Champions of the NIU College of Law 1L Closing Argument Competition. Catherine Carter and Grace Hannon-Geller were also finalists. The 1L Closing Argument Competition gives students their first opportunity to put law and fact together and deliver an argument.
This competition engaged all students including the 2Ls and 3Ls who were judges for the preliminary rounds. The distinguished members of the final bench were Hon. Lisa Fabiano, Sonia Brodie (’19), and Kelvin Kakazu (’14). Special kudos go to the Trial Ad Society who did a masterful job of adapting the competition to a remote format. They seamlessly managed the many moving parts involved with a virtual competition.
